Happy (late) Mothers Day! As probably all of you are aware, Mother's Day is the day which we celebrate our moms, who willingly let us live inside their body like a parasite! But in all seriousness, it takes an extreme amount of love for someone to let another human live inside of her for nine months, and then have to undergo one the hardest events a women has to go through. The most incredible thing is, moms do all this while being aware that their kids will inevitably resent them at least once throughout their teenage years.
As a teenager, I know from experience that staying close to your mom for every second of your life is incredibly hard. There are always events and subjects that you and you parents and you will not agree on. In these moments, people tend to misplace the advice their parents give, labeling it as unimportant or false. I tend to do this frequently, and without fail, I always manage to be proven wrong.
When I first started high school, I was eager to fit in and naive to the 'real world'. I had never been to a party with drinking or drugs-fortunately, I still haven't been to one-and had no idea of the crazy and idiotic things people my age did for fun. Unlike most peoples junior high experiences, I lived out my days as a boyfriendless, outgoing, and theater-crazed bookworm who was an easy target to bullies. So going into high school, I decided it was time to put an end to my unhappiness and get the life I wanted. Doing this, I gained a vast majority of friends, whom I hung out with every weekend. One weekend, my friends wanted to go to a rave-keep in mind at the time I had no idea what they were describing as a 'dance party' was a rave. With excitement at the idea that they manipulated into my mind, I asked my mom to let me go to this ' dance party'. My mom, who was not naive like I was, had told me no . In a moment of shock, I had been felt completely hurt that my mom had treated my idea so unfair. I decided that my only option was to act like every other teenager I know and try to bullshit my way into going-if you were to know my mom, you would know she is not the bullshitting type. My mom still refused, even after my favorite phrase I use frequently, "You are going have to trust me at some point, mom". As that weekend came and went, I had started hearing crazy stories of what had happened there. Everything my friends described made me uncomfortable and once again, my mom had proved me wrong. The theme of the story I had just told was that, no matter what occurs in life, your mom will always be right.
During this Mother's Day, my mom had decided she wanted to do something different, as apposed to going to random family parties. Our family had decided to go to Manayunk in Philadelphia. Manayunk is a part of Philadelphia mostly known for it's large population of young citizens and pubs. My mom had planned for us to go on a food tour, where we would try various samples of different resturants. For someone who is in a serious relationship with food, this idea was heaven.
The first place we toured on the tour was a bakery called, Marchiano's Bakery. At the bakery we tried tomato pie and a Stromboli. Both of them were delicious but I preferred the Stromboli more-it is ironic since I do not like meat.

While we were walking to our next spot, the tour guide gave us soft pretzels from another bakery called, Tasty Twisters. Tasty Twisters is known for the accomplishment of baking soft pretzels the original way they were made. With a somewhat sweet and fluffy bread, the soft pretzel was better than any other pretzel I have had before.

The next stop we visited was by far my favorite. Lucky's Last Chance is a bar famous for its Peanut Butter and Jelly Burger. When I first heard we would eat something with such unlike flavors I grew skeptical. Once I tasted the burger, I was hooked. The burger makes you feel as if it is a Friday night and you are home alone and binge-watching Netflix's series-basically, it makes you feel like you are in paradise.

One of the final stops on the tour was to a cafe named, Volo Coffeehouse. With a calming vibe and incredible tasting coffee, I was hooked. Not only is their coffee delicious, but they do the foam art for their cappuccinos making their coffee Instagram-worthy.

The final stop on the tour was to one of the cutest cake shops I have ever encountered, Sweet Elizabeth's Cakes. With cute and funny decor cakes with sayings like You Are Not The Father and (I lied) It Is You, Not Me, covering the shop. Not to mention, their red velvet cupcakes-made with beet juice!- were amazing!
